Twitter Joins The Linux Foundation

The popular microblogging service, Twitter, join the Linux Foundation. These birds display the companies committed to supporting open source software.
Why Twitter joined the Linux Foundation? This is the question that terbesit in the minds of the connoisseurs of technology. Twitter will be formally committed to supporting open source software projects.

Like most other companies, Twitter heavily to open source software as data center and hosting server that uses a Linux operating system that judged reliable.

Linux Foundation itself is the foundation that collects donations for the development of the kernel or the essence of the open source Linux operating system that relies on sponsorships from leading information technology companies to build open source software.

Twitter is rumored to join as a silver member and pay USD $ 15,000 to get special privileges. Linux Foundation will announce at the Conference LinuxCon membership Twitter next week in San Diego.

As reported by from ArsTechnica (25/08/2012), Enterprise microblogging Twitter is indeed still accounting for new in the world of open source. Twitter is rumored to have used a lot of open source software such as MySQL database developed itself to save Tweets.

Not only that, Twitter is also a sponsor of the famous web server software, and ApacheFoundation also joined the World Wide Web Consortium.


"How important Linux to become so much of a big company backbone which is basically running on Linux and works to build the infrastructure they are almost entirely on open source software," said Jim Zemlin, Executive Director of the Linux Foundation.
